Construction class and jacket selector
The number that picks the construction is the maximum temperature the blanket is exposed to, not the temperature you want to maintain. A 400 °C core on a 90 °C duty is paid for and never used.

Rating against duty
Headroom is the gap between the construction rating and the temperature the line actually runs at. Some headroom is necessary; a whole band of it is money spent on a rating that never gets used.

The three construction classes

Jackets
- Teflon-coated fiberglass is the default jacket, and the ±2 °C surface uniformity figure applies to that configuration
- Flexible PTFE is selected for corrosive chemical exposure and is priced separately
- Apply the PTFE jacket only on the sections that see the exposure, rather than across the whole run
The PTFE jacket fabric we specify was tested under SGS report AJFS2411014511FF to Fed. Test Method Standard 191A, Method 5903.1, with 0 s after-flame, 0 s afterglow and 11 mm average char length. That report covers the fabric sample submitted for the test.
Above the band
Above 400 °C we quote a different method instead of a hotter blanket. Send the exposure temperature and what produces it and we will say whether the item is in scope before you produce a drawing.
