Tick every item the supplier you are evaluating actually publishes or will put in writing. Score the same way for every supplier on your shortlist, including us.

The eight checks

• Current draw per blanket stated in amperes, not just wattage
• Temperature stated as a fixed setpoint or a rise above ambient, and labelled which
• Ingress rating quoted with the standard it is classified to
• Plug type and cord specification published
• Approval or listing documentation available for your jurisdiction
• Durable markings on the unit giving voltage and current or wattage
• Stated limit on how many blankets connect on one circuit
• Size, voltage and wattage can all be changed to order

Result

A supplier who cannot answer the electrical checks is usually reselling somebody else’s build, which matters when you need a different voltage or a size that is not on the shelf.
